With the most physicians, highest satisfaction and percentage of clients deeply using electronic order entry in acute care hospitals, company cited as well-positioned to meet the ARRA meaningful use criteria
ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jun. 10, 2009--
Underscoring its strong industry position to help healthcare
organizations achieve “meaningful use,” Eclipsys Corporation® (NASDAQ:
ECLP), The Outcomes Company®, today announced that KLAS has reported
that the company leads the industry in the number of physicians using
its computerized physician order entry (CPOE) system in acute care
hospitals and the percentage of its client base deeply using CPOE. The
company also has the highest physician satisfaction from clients using
its Sunrise Acute Care™ solution.
The recently enacted American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009
(ARRA) offers federal incentives to hospitals and providers for
achieving “meaningful use of an electronic health record (EHR).” ARRA
also has stirred debate as to whether a specific EHR technology can
deliver the level of clinician adoption required to surpass the required
threshold of “meaningful use.”
According to the recently issued KLAS “Meaningful Use Leading to
Improved Outcomes” report, deep adoption is pivotal to the overarching
success of an electronic medical record (EMR) implementation. The KLAS
report noted Eclipsys is among the vendors that are by far the most
successful with regard to physician adoption, and that survey
respondents cited the company as able to provide an integrated
ambulatory EMR solution to the marketplace that is well-positioned to
meet the meaningful use criteria.
In addition, KLAS concluded that Eclipsys has an advantage in both
physician satisfaction and time required to order with the company’s
CPOE system. After surveying Eclipsys CPOE clients, KLAS also reported
that:
-
When looking at deep CPOE adoption, Eclipsys ranks highest among
vendors, with 41 percent of its 200+ bed client base actually entering
more than 50 percent of all orders electronically with CPOE.
-
Eclipsys is strong in getting new clients live quickly with CPOE,
proving that a focused and quick approach works.
-
24 percent of all CPOE-using physicians in acute care hospitals
utilize Eclipsys.
-
Eclipsys has the second highest number of non-employed physicians
doing CPOE with its system.
“We are pleased this new KLAS report brings to light that our company
dominates the market performance for physician satisfaction with CPOE in
acute care hospitals and points out our advantage to meet forthcoming
ARRA requirements,” said Jay Deady, Eclipsys executive vice president of
Client Solutions. “We’re also pleased that the findings highlight the
fundamental distinction providers should make in considering EMR vendors
for ARRA, which is not the number of hospital sites a vendor may have,
but within those sites, how many doctors are actually doing CPOE?”
Eclipsys’ CPOE high adoption rates and speed are a factor of its
embedded complex algorithms that transcend fundamental order entry to
automatically interpret and recalculate new order protocols in real time
based on any updates to the patient condition. With more than 30 years
of experience, Eclipsys has leveraged the input of thousands of
physicians for evidence-based order sets and frequently used protocols
to achieve unmatched, continuous evolution in its CPOE capabilities.
Built on the Sunrise Enterprise™ XA extended architecture™, the
intuitive, easy-to-adopt solution offers highly complex clinical
decision support capabilities that provide workflows tailored to how
physicians practice medicine and support fully automating even the most
complex order sets and medication ordering, including the exacting
protocols, long-range medication schedules and complicated treatment
plans commonplace in oncology and pediatric care environments.
